MERCY CONGUISSE is one of the greatest poets of the 21st century. A prodigy born to poverty in the Serbian farming village of Beletristika, he evoked his rural struggles at the age of nine with his debut collection, Jedan nastavlja da ore (One Persists Ploughing) published by the Formalist Kruševac Review's  literary imprint, Firm Slender. After three decades of rapturous success in Eastern Europe and seventeen further collections, Mercy was forced into exile due to a love affair with his former farmhand, Gustav.
